COVID19: Returning Marines Screened for Coronavirus in NC

U.S. Marines with 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion exit a chartered plane at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, March 31, 2020.

Coronavirus Questions and Temperatures

The Department of Defense implemented travel restrictions and new processes aimed at mitigating the spread of Coronavirus from foreign countries back into the US.

The USMC didn’t specify the exact screening process used, but the DoD so far has been following CDC guidance, which recommends testing only if symptoms are present. So the screening process likely included questionnaires and a temperature reading.

As we learn more about the contagious properties of this disease, it will soon become apparent if screening is enough to prevent the spread throughout the force.
