Portable Bio-Containment Module Tested in C-17 Globemaster III

Air Force crews tested the airworthiness of a portable bio-containment module in a C-17 last week.

With the urgent need to transport as many as 4,000 American citizens from overseas per month, the Portable Bio-Chemical Module, or PBCM, is one of several options the Air Force is considering to transport infectious patients.

PBCM is an existing capability currently used by the Department of State. The PBCM is a hard roll-on-roll-off structure that holds four patients.
