F-35 UAE Deployment – USMU Analysis
The deployment of the Lightning II to the UAE is a historic move by the US, placing its latest fifth-generation fighter in the backyard of its adversaries in the Middle East.
This is especially an alarming escalation for Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin, who recently maneuvered his way into the territory vacuum resulting from the US withdrawal from Syria earlier this fall. The Russian flag might currently be flying high near the Turkish border, but F-35s are likely to be flying even higher above that.
