A US Air Force C-130J Super Hercules touched down in an assault landing on a taxiway at Yokota Air Base in Tokyo, Japan.
C-130 Assault Landing
The March 26 training flight was aimed at ensuring the Air Force’s Airlift capabilities are not impeded in the event the main runway becomes inoperable during an attack or natural disaster.
Ensuring Airlift capabilities is vitally important in maintaining the overall stability and security of the Air Base. Fortunately the USAF has a cargo plane uniquely suited to this mission.
Super Hercules Performance
The Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules is a modern variant of a military cargo plane that was designed originally in the 1950s. Decades of technology and engine improvements, however, make this one of the most capable cargo aircraft in the world.
No other aircraft in the US Air Force is better suited for short field operations than the C-130.
